Dmytro (Dmitry) Startsev is an experienced ballroom and Latin dancer and dance instructor in both International and American styles. Dmitry began ballroom dancing at age six and by age 14 was competing professionally in his homeland, Ukraine, and in Europe. From 1995 until 2002 Dmitry ranked fifth in Europe in international Ballroom dance.
Mr. Startsev have been three-time Ukrainian National Champion in Ballroom dances, Champion of Ukraine in ten dances. Finalist of European championships in Ballroom and Latin dances. Leader of Ukrainian and Russian dance teams in 2010-2011.
Dmitry's students have been three-time champions of Russia, two-time champions of Ukraine and World Champions in 2010 in dance sport. His dance credentials include a University Master’s degree in choreography and in 1997 the laureate of National, Republican and International Competitions of Ballroom Dancers granted him “International Class”. In 2012, Dmitry expanded his dance knowledge and experience when he began his association with the Wheelchair Dance Sport Organization of the Ukraine. He and his partner participated in many world class wheelchair dance competitions in Ukraine. In early 2013, Dmitry and his partner won the bronze medal at the Ukrainian National Cup of Wheelchair Dance Sport and earned a place on the Ukraine Paralympic Wheelchair Dance Team. In 2002, Dmitry began teaching students full-time and in 2013 came to Canada where he continues to teach ballroom and Latin dance to many students and also works at growing interest for wheelchair dancesport in Canada. Whether providing competitive-level dance training or competing as a dancer, Dmitry’s extensive experience and knowledge makes him a great asset to the dance community
In April 2018 Dmitry and his partner started compete in Professional division and became Canadian Champions in Professional Rising Star in Montreal (June 2018) and Toronto (July 2018).
In August 2018 Dmitry became Bronze Champion of Canada in 10 dances.
